BOSAL is a Dutch privately owned company, mainly known as a global Tier 1 automotive supplier, in business since 1923. We employ about 2,500 people in 16 production facilities of which the largest ones are situated in the Czech Republic, Mexico, Spain, Turkey and South Africa. Our corporate research center is based in Belgium, next to that we run 6 other R&D satellites worldwide.
Our company is organized around 3 business areas:
Powertrain : in this largest BOSAL division, we design and manufacture emission control systems (cold end + hot end) for passenger cars and heavy duty vehicles (ICE + hybrid)
Chassis : this division comprises a large range of welded and formed products going from seat frames to fuel tanks and air tanks, to towbars and jacks.
Energy : the Energy Conversion business unit of BOSAL designs and manufactures state-of-the-art plate and tube heat exchangers for advanced power generators. We have 20 years experience in the area of gas turbines and fuel cell systems, not only as a supplier of components but also as a system integrator.
Currently we are looking for a Process Engineer Energy in Lummen (Belgium). The Process Engineer Energy is a core member of the product creation process of Energy Systems and reports to the Process Development Manager.
Responsible for process definition: Conduct feasibility (Design for Manufacturing) study from quotation onward for high temperature and/or high pressure heat exchangers. Deliver flowcharts, cycle time study, conduct VSM. Propose SMART performance targets for OEE, scrap, SMED. Deliver initial layout and manning, standardized work and times. Deliver machine and tooling list. Provide all this inputs to PROFIE cost calculation. Initiate and update P-FMEA. Define machine and tooling RFQ’s and be part of the technical negotiation process, initiate the corresponding RAACI’s with plants. Define prototype tool concept definition. Provide production M-BOM. Contribute to PFEP with packaging sheets.
Responsible for process validation till handover to plant Define key process characteristics and perform preliminary capability study. Initiate Digital Twin simulations for feasibility checks in steel plate and tube processing, welding applications (brazing/laser welding / MIG & TIG welding), and general plant layout and participate actively. Define, execute and report on acceptance tests at suppliers.
Provide core process technology expertise and participate in Core Competence Team.
Master's degree in Engineering science.
Working knowledge of metal forming and joining (laser welding, high temperature brazing).
Thin sheet metal processing.
International Welding Engineering certification is an advantage.
Good knowledge of drawing, GD&T, tolerance studies, datum reference system.
Good knowledge of design for six sigma techniques.
Good English language skills.
3-5 years of relevant experience
Automotive Tier 1 or 2 supplier
