Job Overview and Responsibilities

Responsibility :
  • Lead production excellence activities within the Transformation Center of the Solvay Group. Support the Solvay Group’s transformation mostly in Europe in the field of Manufacturing.
  • Work with Data Scientists and Production/Process/R&I Experts to build the simplest, most robust and pragmatic solutions/models to improve plant performances in all dimensions.
  • Mission :
  • To support several Global Business Units (GBUs) in assessing their end to end operational improvement potential in Industrial Operations (OEE, Yield), Material management, finite scheduling, site logistics incl. also safety, capacity, quality consistency, resource usage, variable and fixed costs
  • To help senior industrial management of these GBUs to define realistically challenging targets and objectives
  • To lead initial assessments and (digital) diagnostics with sites, global change leaders and data scientists ensuring realistic potential improvement is identified
  • In collaboration with Data Scientists, ensure that meaningful target functions are set to characterize problems to solve, define relevant process parameters combinations to improve model performances, communicate in an agile way with production stakeholders to leverage all knowledge sources to improve the models built..
  • In collaboration with Data Scientists and Production/Process Experts, Lead visual analytics workshop to quickly explore (very) large data sets and challenge both data science and process certainties, listening to both the ‘Voice of the Data’ and the ‘Voice of ‘Physics’.
  • To develop and deploy within various manufacturing sites the change management methodology and toolbox
  • To transfer change management expertise (including toolbox & methodology) to the GBU leaders, to Middle Management, to site change leader and to workers of the sites
  • To create the conditions to reach sustainable results and to create a mindset of continuous improvement
  • To propose the change project priorities, to ensure that staff for different projects is properly trained, to lead the projects and monitor the use of the appropriate methodologies and toolboxes, to support the change leaders on the different sites in their projects and transfer progressively the leadership to them.
  • He will report to the Production Domain Manager within Solvay Transformation Center of Solvay Group.
  • Main output:
  • Challenge business and production processes to identify value creation initiatives end to end across value streams.
  • Drive/coach translation of improvement levers into pragmatic improvement plans
  • Support deployment of improvement plans in various areas of production, with interaction with supply chain and quality, including strong components of change management from the preparation until delivery of sustainable results in collaboration with change teams in manufacturing sites.
  • Transfer change management expertise and inspire a Mindset of sustainable continuous improvement
  • Track change project output (in cooperation with Transformation center corporate team, GBU and Site change leaders)
  • Train and coach using the Transformations Center methodologies and toolbox
  • Education and Experience
  • Strong technical and process expertise with 5-10 years’ experience in production (process and/or manufacturing) and in change leader roles
  • Master/Engineer, preferably Chemical or Material Engineer
  • Skills
  • Familiar with the industrial environment and result oriented
  • Data Driven and Statistically minded (6 sigma Black belt is a plus)
  • Very good data crunching abilities are a must
  • Masters key components of Lean Transformation and how to create a culture of continuous improvement
  • Strong leadership skills with proven record of embarking teams in challenging journeys
  • Strong coaching skills with good ability to impact and influence
  • Highly flexible and mobile and used to collaborating in a global multicultural environment
  • English fluent, any other language is a plus
